Speedwell of Southampton (routinely refered to simply as "Speedwell") is a Nicholson 35 mark V, built in 1977, hull number 142; purchased by us in Marmaris Turkey in 1997.

Maintenance and refurbishment log

1997: Prepared for return to UK; minor repairs, strengthened chainplates and renewed instruments (Navico), teak deck.

2001: New larger wheel, Eberspacher heating installed.

2002: Hull preventative epoxied, seacocks and skin fittings replaced, new engine - Thorneycroft T105 (Silvers Marine), replaced fresh water pipes and pumps etc, replaced fridge cooling system, larger steering wheel fitted.

2005-2008: Speedwell in covered storage at Silvers Marine.

2009: Taller Mark VI rig fitted - Seleden in mast electric reefing and genoa electric reefing.  Main winches replaced by larger Harken units (Silvers Marine/Mast and Rigging Services), Raymarine Radar and Widescreen chartplotter installed along with Tacktick wind instrument.  All Navico instruments NMEA linked to Raymarine units.  Air marine wind generator replaced with quieter Air Breeze unit.

2011: Old NECO autohelm control unit replaced with Raymarine Pilot Control.  In mast reefing motor unit replaced (Mast and Rigging Services).

2013: New teak cockpit locker lids.

2014: New winter cover (Owen Sails)

2015: Repairs to winter damage, new teak toe rail, sheer stripe repainted.  In mast electric reefing serviced.

2016: Anchor winch replaced, mainsail re-cut to reduce creasing when furling.

2017: Replaced engine with Volvo D2-40 S103 saildrive.
